Christmas Letter Art

We did it!  We made it to MOA to spend the afternoon looking for letters in objects.  Let's see how it turned out!  Today we will spend most of our time downloading our photos off the cameras and onto our storage site.  Once your photos are available, we will move into Fotor to begin editing.  My hope is to be finishing up this project by next Tuesday.  That gives us 2 class periods for editing and submission.  After your project is submitted, we will print and laminate them for our Christmas bulletin board display.

Don't forget...you need a portrait photo (of yourself) to use for our next project. This portrait needs to be taken either by you or a partner.   If you would like to do an extra one with friends, family, etc... please let me know.  There is a $3 charge for each portrait project (this includes the canvas, print and supplies).

Welcome to Quarter 2 Digital Photography!

Welcome!  I am excited to get started on this quarter's photography projects.  Let's look again at what we talked about yesterday in class...

We looked at examples of Rule of Thirds, High Angle (Bird's Eye View), Low Angle (Worm's Eye View) and Frame within a Frame.  Please take time to scroll down the page to see even more examples of these categories from last quarter.  The categories we talked about are going to be used throughout the quarter and incorporated into our projects.

As we get ready for our first project, I assigned all of you to take at least one QUALITY photo of a CREATIVE subject that could be used as a letter.  Please bring this to class on FRIDAY to receive 10 points.  If an assignment is 1 class period late, it will be given 75% of your score.  If it is late by 2 class periods or more, you will receive 50% of your score.  Please stay on top of assignments!

I look forward to seeing all of you on Friday!!

Assignment #3 (Continued)

Good afternoon!  Welcome back junior high students!!  I missed you last week, but am so excited to hear that your retreat went well.  It was amazing to hear all the stories of how God worked within your group!  I look forward to hearing more from you!

Since we have had a busy week with CFS and new computers arriving, we will pick-up where we left off on Friday, September 26th.  Today we will focus on the following tasks:

1.  Make sure you have at least 10 QUALITY photos from each category.

2.  Upload your photos to Dropbox.

3.  Once your photos are taken and uploaded to Dropbox, I will send a link to your email so that you have access to them.

4.  Lastly, you will work in Fotor to edit your photos.  Editing will go as follows:

  • Make sure to consider how you crop the photo
  • When editing your photos, use the tools listed below.  You might use some variation of certain tools in all your photos, while other tools you might use only once or twice (depending on what look you are trying to create).  Play around and have fun with this...there is so much you can do with it!  I will list a few things that MUST be used in at least 2 photos in EACH category.
    • Lens Flare
    • Black and white photo
    • Black and white photo with Color Splash
    • Tilt Shift (Bokeh)
    • Text
  • You will need to choose a FILTER & FRAME for each photo.  You will do this by using Classic, LOMO, Vintage or Cool.  You can also use tools I haven't mentioned above.
  • STICKERS can only be used in 1 photo per category.
  • Lastly, you will put all edited photos into a slideshow and send it to me.
